Rogue Vine is a duo based in the Itata Valley in Southern Chile composed of Leo Erazo (winemaker at Altos Las Hormigas in Mendoza) and Justin Decker. All the vineyards are dry-farmed hillside bush vines that are between 60 and 300 (!) years old. Native yeast, old barrels, no corrections, and minimal sulfur use is the norm here. The Grand Itata is an intriguing blend of Moscatel, Riesling, and Chardonnay. The nose is alive with stone fruit, lychee, orange, and white flower aromas that leads to a soft, mineral-laden palate. Long and complex.
